Candlelight Vigil

Even through hard times, our community’s strength shines bright.

On Tuesday, October 22 at the Candlelight Vigil at Pack Square Park, those who were able came together in the heart of downtown Asheville to share a moment that was more than words could ever express.

Asheville community holds candlelight vigil to honor those affected by Helene.

The air was heavy with both pain and love, and as the flames flickered, so did our emotions. It was a time of healing, of reconnecting with one another, and remembering that through the hardest times, this community’s strength shines brightest.

Asheville City Council member Maggie Ullman was one of the organizers of the ceremony. The ceremony began at 6 p.m. and started with a Welcome and Invocation by Father Jim Abbott. His speech reminded the community of the strength and unity that emerged even in the darkest times.

The heart and soul of the people in Western North Carolina will rebuild it, stronger than ever, with foundations that won’t waver. Together, we rise.
