Hands Off! Asheville Rally

More than 8,500 people showed up to protest.

On Saturday, April 5, 2025 hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets to express their frustration with President Donald Trump’s agenda.

In Asheville, 2,500 people were expected to protest in Pack Square park.

More than 7,500 people showed up to protest, many with colorful signs opposing the actions of Trump and Musk.

An estimated 1,400 protests took place across the country. The Asheville event was sponsored by local groups Good Trouble WNC, Indivisible Asheville/WNC, and the NC Poor People’s Campaign.

The two-hour rally featured nearly a dozen speakers addressing issues on health care, climate, veterans’ rights, Social Security, Medicaid, education and the impact of federal cuts on local organizations and institutions. Along with speakers, the gathering was host to performances by Womansong of Asheville and the Asheville Gay Men’s Chorus.
