The Joe Greene Foundation
Deeply committed to advancing equity, particularly in healthcare access.

Joe Greene founded his eponymous foundation to promote early detection of colon cancer among African Americans, who are about 20% more likely to be diagnosed with colon cancer—and 40% more likely to die from it—than any other racial group.
These disparities underscore the need to address social determinants of health, including systemic racism and healthcare disparities, and to empower communities to prioritize their health, advocate for early screening, and break down barriers to equitable healthcare access.
Greene himself continues to battle stage 4 colon cancer, and it was his personal experience that led him to create this means of educating others. The foundation reaches out through visits to churches and community centers, as well as radio programs, advocacy panels, and social media. It has also published Greene’s books, The Next Chapter ESSL, (Early Screening Saves Lives) and What About the Mental.
Through such outreach and community engagement, it has become a vital platform for raising awareness and knowledge about colon cancer screening within marginalized communities, breaking down barriers to healthcare access, and helping empower individuals with knowledge and resources to enable them take control of their health journeys.
