Description

Heather South along with city of Asheville workers and officials unearth the time capsule from the Vance Monument.

Heather South of the North Carolina State Archives, along with city of Asheville workers and officials, unearthed a time capsule from the Vance Monument that had been sealed since 1897. South said she was amazed at the condition of the materials inside. Archivists have dried the contents and are working to stabilize and preserve the brittle, ancient pages.
