The Links, Incorporated made their third trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica on January 23-27, 2018.
One member from the Asheville Chapter, Raynetta C. Waters, was making her second Jamaica trip with The Links, Incorporated.
While in Jamaica, members visited Watford Hill Primary School, one of three schools the Links supports, along with Mount Zion Primary School and St. Mary Preparatory School. During their visit the members focused on technology, anti-bullying programs, arts, and oral and physical hygiene (sponsored by Colgate), and CPR training.
The Asheville Chapter is part of the Southern Area Links, Incorporated under the leadership of Area Director Anne Herriott. The Southern Area’s initiative is “One Mission One Love.” As her mission, Link Raynetta assisted with instructing fourth- and fifth-graders on personal hygiene. She also had the opportunity to mentor one of the students. The students were presented with school supplies, personal hygiene items, and clothing. Parents received personal hygiene products and information as well.
“The smiles on the children’s faces were amazing. It was such an opportunity to help!” said Waters. “[What we did] was much appreciated.”
Links Chapters continue to support all schools throughout the year by sending school supplies, financial contributions, personal hygiene items, and clothing.
