Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program

WIC is a nutritional program that provides a monthly food balance to qualifing low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women with children age five and under.

The North Carolina WIC Program is moving to an electronic benefit transfer system, called eWIC. eWIC makes it easy to access WIC funds on a card when you purchase healthy foods at the grocery store.

WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding education and support, referrals for health care, and free language assistance. There is no charge for WIC services. If you qualify for Medicaid or Food Assistance you will automatically qualify for WIC.

See if you qualify for WIC by visiting www.buncombecounty.org/wic or call (828) 250-5000.
