The City of Asheville and the County of Buncombe proclaimed March 29, 2015 Dr. Pamela Baldwin Day.
On hand to present the proclamation was Buncombe County Commission Chairman David Gantt, who stated how proud he was to make the presentation.
“Dr. Baldwin has worked tirelessly for the students of Asheville City Schools,” stated Chairman Gantt. “Her dedication to our students is something for which she should commended.”
Hill Street Baptist Church also awarded Dr. Baldwin a “Community Recognition Award,” presented by its pastor, Dr. Keith A. Ogden. He reminded the audience that educating youth is of paramount importance, and “without the proper leadership, education, and guidance, our children’s future could potentially be lost. We must remain vigilant in support of Dr. Baldwin as she moves forward promoting an agenda of excellence in education,” he said.
The keynote speaker for the day was Dr. Dolly Mullen, Professor of Political Science at UNC Asheville. She spoke on the ingenuity of women, and how they have propelled our nation forward through the centuries.
Community Recognition Awards were also present to Jacquelyn Hallum and Precious Folston, who have both recently completed eight years of service on the Asheville City School Board.
