In early March 2025, 19-year-old twin brothers Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis were found deceased from gunshot wounds atop Bell Mountain, not far from the town of Hiawassee in Towns County, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) initiated an inquiry, with preliminary findings suggesting a possible murder-suicide. However, the official cause of death remains undetermined pending further forensic analysis.

The Lewis family has expressed unrelenting skepticism regarding the initial findings of murder-suicide, emphasizing the close bond between the twins and asserting that they were not capable of harming each other. Family members noted that the brothers had no known connections to Bell Mountain, as they lived 90 miles away in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Also, on the day before their deaths, they were scheduled to travel to Boston on business for their new clothing line. Their plane tickets were found in their possession.

In a related development, Scott Kerlin, a 42-year-old volunteer firefighter from Towns County, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor obstruction after allegedly taking and sharing unauthorized photos from the scene. He has since been terminated from his position.

As of now, the investigation is still ongoing, with the GBI awaiting additional forensic test results before making a final determination on the causes of death.

Update May 2025

Nearly two months after the bodies of 19-year-old twin brothers were discovered on top of a mountain in Towns County, Georgia, their family is still searching for answers—and questioning the official account of what happened.

As of May 2025, the investigation into the deaths of 19-year-old twin brothers Qaadir and Naazir Lewis remains active and unresolved. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has not released final autopsy results or an official ruling on the cause and manner of death, pending additional forensic testing.

The family disputes the initial murder-suicide theory, citing the twins’ close bond and lack of any known issues that would lead to such an outcome. Surveillance footage from a Shell gas station in Lawrenceville shows the brothers acting normally just hours before their deaths. They also question how the twins accessed Bell Mountain, a location unfamiliar to them, especially considering the area is gated and closes at 9 p.m. The family’s concerns have led them to call for a more thorough investigation.

The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and to advocate for continued investigation into the unresolved case. To donate to the campaign, visit www.gofundme.com/f/qaadir-and-naazir-funeral-service.
