Love, Strength, and Resilience: Our Autism Journey
A mother’s path through diagnosis, advocacy, and unwavering love.

The new book Love, Strength, and Resilience: Our Autism Journey is author Nakiba Tuggle’s account of raising a son on the autism spectrum, from early diagnosis through young adulthood.
She writes about the grief and the questions, the advocacy in schools and doctors’ offices, the small victories, and the hope her family fought for.
At its heart, this is the story of a Black family working through systems that were not always built with African American in mind, and holding on to faith and each other along the way. Too often, Black families face autism in silence, with later diagnoses, fewer resources, and, of course, the weight of stigma.
“I wrote this book so that other parents and caregivers, especially mothers raising children on their own, would know they are not alone,” says Ms. Tuggle.
A behavioral wellness coach and the founder of Ground Up Coaching, she helps parents and young adults build practical daily systems for routines, sleep, time management, and family communication. Ms. Tuggle holds a Master of Science in Psychology and bring years of trauma-informed care and advocacy experience to her work.
