Asheville lost a valued community leader on February 19, 2025, when Robert L. Simmons passed.
A leader who impacted many lives in Asheville/Buncombe County, Robert worked with Life on Life Terms, Community Action Opportunities, and Changing Together, and he served on the Advisory Board to the Asheville Housing Authority in saving the historic Livingston Street Elementary School and renaming it the Arthur R. Edington Education and Career Center.
Privately, he was a certified Life Coach and founder of RLS Enterprises, an organization that created the Father to Father Empowerment Program, which was instrumental in connecting fathers within the lives of their children. He was a strong community advocate and transformational leader who supported others in reaching their goals. A memorial service for Mr. Simmons was held Saturday, March 8, 2025.
