Firestorm Books is hosting a pumpkin carving benefit for disaster rent relief.

Your job was wiped away, you can’t drink the water, there’s a tree on your roof, and rent is still due!? These landlords are off their gourds!

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at Firestorm Books (1022 Haywood Road in Asheville), you are invited to carve a pumpkin, connect with neighbors, and raise much needed money for disaster rent relief. This all-ages fundraiser for disaster rent relief is hosted by Firestorm Books and Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church to provide direct financial aid to vulnerable community members.

Costumes encouraged! Carving tools and hot apple cider will be provided to all participants. $15 suggested donation gets you a pumpkin. $5 enters your pumpkin in the running for best jack-o’-lantern. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

If you’re feeling laid-back, Firestorm will have some jack-o’-lantern templates for you to use. If you’re feeling ambitious, join the competition for the best gourd and maybe you’ll walk away with a $100 gift card to Firestorm Books.

Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church is an inclusive and hospitable place of spiritual growth that welcomes all, regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic or racial identity, economic position, residency status, or political affiliation. For the last three weeks, Grace Covenant has been operating a supply distribution center collecting and distributing essential supplies to our community and other more isolated communities that were hit hard by Hurricane Helene.
