Don’t Take A Chance With Your Vote
Stories have been appearing with more and more frequency warning that newly registered voters are being or will be challenged on Election Day, and that currently registered voters – even those who have voted for years, from the same address, with the same name – are being purged by voter registration officials.
We urge you not to take a risk that you might be disenfranchised on or before election day. Even if you are 100% confident that you are a registered voter, Buncombe County residents should call the board of elections at (828) 250-4200 or go online at www.buncombecounty.org/governing/depts/Election/. Online, look at the left-hand column titled “Election Links,” and click on the third option, “Am I registered,” to confirm your registration status. The instructions in the pop-up window are clear.
If you discover you are not registered, that your registration has been purged, lost, or changed, you should not lose your right to vote. You can still register and vote at the same time by using One-Stop Voting.
