Musical offerings include performance by Cellist Sterling Elliott.
This fall, the Asheville Symphony is offering something for music lovers of all ages.
“Masterworks 1: Out of the Shadows” debuts the season under the direction of Music Director Darko Butorac, with performances on Saturday, September 23 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Asheville.
The program showcases the power and beauty of orchestral music, with Beethoven’s “Leonore” Overture No. 3, Elgar’s stunning Cello Concerto, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 4.
Cellist Sterling Elliott will join the Asheville Symphony on Elgar’s Cello Concerto. Acclaimed for his stellar stage presence and joyous musicianship, Elliott is the winner of the Senior Division of the 2019 National Sphinx Competition, which supports Black and Latinx musicians who are early in their careers.
The following week, the Asheville Symphony presents “Star Wars: Celebrating a Galaxy of Music” at the Salvage Station’s outdoor stage on Sunday, October 1, at 5 p.m.
Presented in conjunction with Beer City Comic Con, this show features everything from classics like “The Imperial March,” and “Cantina” to Williams’s latest editions to the Star Wars universe like “The Mandalorian Theme.” Costumes are encouraged!
