OBAMACARE: The Best Thing Since Cotton Candy!
by Johnnie Grant
Some say it’s really good, while other say it just wasn’t ready to be rolled out.
The government even shut down because of it—and left innocent people standing in the crossfire. Some say it was the CIVIL WAR (at least ONE of the civil wars—probably more to come) of the 21st century. Yes, I’m talking about the most hotly debated, butt-kicking, Annie-go-get-yur-gun legislation of the century—the Affordable Care Act known as OBAMACARE!
With all its glitches, false starts, and overwhelmed dot-gov website, 10.1 million American managed to get medical health coverage—and were thankful for it. Actually, of those people I spoke with (both Republican and Democrat), they said it’s the best thing that happened since cotton candy!
Don’t believe it? Below is the letter from one Obamacare recipient:
“I am a staunch Republican, a self-proclaimed Fox News addict, and I didn’t vote for the President. And I’m here to tell you that Obamacare works. I’m living proof.
I’m a chemotherapy patient, and was previously paying $428 a month for my health coverage. I was not thrilled when it was cancelled. Then I submitted an application at HealthCare.gov. I looked at my options. And I signed up for a plan for $62 a month.
It’s the best health care I have ever had! So right now, here’s what I want to tell anyone who still needs health insurance, or knows someone who does:
I wrote a letter to President Obama this past February to tell him about my experience with the Health Insurance Marketplace. I hoped he’d read it, and he did. I may not be a supporter of the President. But now, I get mad when I see Obamacare dragged through the mud on television. And even though I regularly tune in to conservative pundits, I’d like to tell them they’re getting it wrong. Obamacare works. It just might change your life.”

Good for him! However, there is a much bigger problem, which is fallout (or retaliation) as a result of Obamacre—albeit, it is a problem now being manufactured by big companies and corporations.
A stand-down is being created for hard-working employees who find themselves in a dilemma over how to maintain their health coverage for themselves and their families due to retirement, or as a result of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). If you, or a spouse, are employed by a major corporation and are now being accessed with unexpected increases in your health-care premiums—you know what I speak about.
Problem 1. Many dependents of retiring workers of these large corporations are being booted off insurance coverage as dependents, or charged exorbitant premiums with less coverage.
Problem 2. There are other employed workers (since Obamacare) who are now being given ultimatums of having to pay excessive monthly premiums, or work without having medical health insurance for themselves or their families.
This has become a game. Many employers know their employees can’t afford costly health premiums. So what does the employer do? Give employees ultimatums. Pay the premiums, or find another job, or pay the hefty cost to be medically insured—taking food out of his family’s mouth—just to have the health coverage they need.
There ought to be a law against this kind of flagrant dealing. But then…maybe there is. If you’re a damn good lawyer, call me!
