Holding on to Small Joys

A reminder to breathe in the middle of everything.

These are strange times, full of contradictions that sit side by side.

Hard days that blur into confusing ones. Moments of real joy that arrive right next to grief.

Life has a way of being everything at once, and lately it feels like we’re all walking around carrying a little more weight than we will ever admit.

And yet, even in the middle of all that heaviness, there are small, steady things that help us heal. A hug from friends you haven’t seen in a while. A slice of watermelon that tastes like summer. A walk in the woods where the air feels cleaner and the world feels a little less sharp around the edges.

These aren’t escapes, they’re reminders. Proof that joy doesn’t disappear just because life gets complicated. It waits for us.

Allowing yourself joy is not denial. It’s not pretending everything is fine. It’s choosing to make room for the things that keep you grounded, connected, and alive. It’s letting your body remember softness. It’s giving your spirit a moment to breathe.

We don’t have to earn these moments. We don’t have to justify them. We just have to let them in.

Because joy, even the small kind, is part of how we survive. It’s part of how we stay whole.
