Dr. Atanda from Osogbo, Nigeria, along with the Asheville Sister Cities Osogbo committee, is currently working towards obtaining and sending medical supplies to LAUTEC Teaching Hospital in Osogbo. This project was a result of Dr. Atanda’s working with MAHEC on a shadow program.

After learning about how doctors in Asheville work in the OB/GYN
clinics, Dr. Atanda thought it would be a good idea if the LAUTEC
Teaching Hospital could obtain much needed supplies. Dr. Atanda will be
completing his shadow program experience and returning home this August.

The
Osogbo committee of Asheville Sister Cities is working to help gather
and send the medical supplies and equipment that Asheville medical
community (and residents) can spare. The generosity of citizens in
Asheville in sending such things as bandages, surgical supplies, gowns,
surplus medical equipment, sterile pre-packaged surgical instruments,
and surplus laptop computers will be greatly appreciated.

The
teaching hospital and the citizens of our sister city in Osogbo are in
need of our generosity. The committee currently has two large boxes of
supplies to send and will be accepting donations on an ongoing basis.
