Film & Television Production Program

A-B Tech Community College and Western Carolina University have signed a 2+2 agreement for associate of arts degree graduates to transfer to Western Carolina for the film and television production program.

Under the agreement, A-B Tech students who successfully complete the associate of arts degree with specific curriculum will be able to transfer to Western Carolina to finish the last two years of their bachelor’s degree in film and television production. The University will guarantee space availability for two A-B Tech students who meet the January 1 deadline.

“We are thrilled that our first 2+2 agreement is with the film and television production program at Western Carolina. The chair of the program, Jack Sholder, and the entire faculty have been incredibly supportive and receptive to working with the arts and sciences department to ensure the success of our transfer students,” said Stephanie O’Brien, instructor in film and media studies.

“The film and television production program at WCU is delighted to have this agreement with A-B Tech. Students with associate degrees have always done very well in our program, and the filmmaking curriculum at A-B Tech should give them a very strong foundation in filmmaking that we can refine and expand in our four-year program,” said Sholder. “With digital media on every cell phone, webpage, and television set, visual storytelling is not just the language of the 21st century, it is one of its key economic engines, and that is the industry for which we prepare our students.”
