Hagan Announces $1.3M in Grants to Provide Housing for North Carolinians

Greensboro, NC – U.S. Senator Kay Hagan recently announced five housing grants worth $1.3 million to assist low-income and homeless North Carolinians. The grants were awarded through the Federal Home Loan Bank Atlanta Affordable Housing Program and will be used to rehabilitate housing and build new homes.
“I’m pleased these grants will help provide housing to North Carolinians who truly need a place to call home,” Hagan said. “No one should have to wonder where they will sleep each night, and these organizations will help put a roof over the heads of many folks in our state.”
Below are details about the five grants:
• Heritage Park (Charlotte): $500,000 to complete renovation and rehabilitation of 151 two-story garden apartment buildings in Charlotte. The project will modernize the physical property condition and quality of life for very-low-income residents

• Hilltop Terrace (Lexington): $245,600 to acquire and rehabilitate a historic affordable rental housing development that will serve very-low-income residents; includes eight handicapped-accessible units and two units for the sight- and hearing-impaired
