Investiture Services for Dr. Joseph Sanders Parks, Sr.
Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Asheville will celebrate its new Pastor on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Investiture services for Dr. Joseph Sanders Parks, Sr., the newly called Pastor of the historic Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Asheville, will take place on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3 p.m.
The theme for this occasion is “A prophetic voice and a passionate people committed to making disciples.” (Jeremiah 3:15). Dr. Thomas Farrow and the Reeder Memorial Missionary Baptist Church of Charlotte, NC, will be in charge of the service. This will be the official union of Pastor and People to the sacred work of Jesus Christ through the church.
To accommodate the number of guests anticipated, the Investiture Service will be held at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church, 100 Carroll Ave., in Asheville. Tried Stone, under the pastorate of Rev. Alfred E. Blount, can accommodate parking as well as accessibility concerns for seniors and guests.
In addition to the culminating service on August 2, the entire week will be filled with services of celebration. All activities, with the exception of the Sunday Investiture Service, will be held at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 56 Walton Street in Asheville.

For the Church – Rev. Gwendolyn R. Jones, Moderator of the Mud Creek Baptist Association of Asheville, will be the guest preacher.
Spartanburg County Baptist Association Night
Friday, July 31 at 7 p.m
For the Pastor – Dr. Keith McDaniel, Moderator of the Spartanburg County Baptist Association of Spartanburg, SC, will be the guest preacher.
Youth Explosion
Saturday, August 1, from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m
For the Young and Young-at-Heart – Join us as a community of faith for a time of fun and fellowship. There will be something for everyone, including a special time of inspiration and enjoyment. Rev. J. Edwyn Parks of Pearland, Texas will lead this extravaganza of fun.
Citizens of Asheville and surrounding areas are warmly invited to attend these sacred and celebratory services.
