2025 HBCU Living Legend Keynon Lake
Proud graduate of North Carolina Central University.

The Historically Black Colleges and University Living Legends Scholarship Gala 2025 was held recently at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
Keynon Lake, founder of My Daddy Taught Me That and proud North Carolina Central University Eagle, was named a 2025 HBCU Living Legend.
“My Daddy Taught Me That” is a year-round youth development, leadership, and career-exposure program for boys in grades 5-12, founded by Lake in Asheville. The honor is more than a title—it’s a reflection of decades of pouring into young men and women, building community, and living out the mission of service, faith, and fatherhood.
Keynon Lake’s journey proves that when you give back, you don’t just change lives—you change legacies. Let’s celebrate a true role model, a bridge-builder, and now, an HBCU Living Legend. The Urban News joins the HBCU network in congratulating Keynon for his dedication to the betterment of so many lives.
