Montford Park Players Perform Richard II
Get ready for Asheville’s Montford Park Players delightful presentation!

Richard II portrays the downfall of King Richard II and the conflict between him and his cousin, Henry Bolingbroke.
The play explores themes of power, legitimacy, and the consequences of misrule. It’s a fascinating exploration of political intrigue and the complexities of leadership.
Richard II runs until June 23, 2024, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free. Come early and bring a picnic! Email [email protected] for chair rentals. Richard II is the second play in the “Muse of Fire: Shakespeare’s Wars of the Roses” season.

Asheville’s Montford Park Players is North Carolina’s longest running Shakespeare theatre company dedicated to providing exceptional dramatic entertainment for the enrichment, education, and enjoyment of our audiences, free of charge.
The Montford Park Players perform Shakespeare and other classic plays during summer months at the outdoor Hazel Robinson Amphitheater in the Montford Community Center Complex at 92 Gay Street in Asheville, NC. These performances are free to the public, though donations are requested to keep the theatre running.
This year, NC’s longest running Shakespeare festival celebrates 50 years of producing theatre under the stars.
