School will resume in Asheville City Schools on Tuesday, August 16 and parents, staff and students arriving in private vehicles at Asheville High/SILSA during the start and dismissal periods will face new traffic patterns.

The changes will be implemented to provide a safer environment for all and will now require parents dropping off or picking up students to approach the campus from Victoria Road instead of McDowell Street.

Students being dropped off will now exit and enter vehicles on the upper
side of the Fine Arts Building and these transient vehicles will then
proceed downhill in a one-way pattern and exit the campus at the traffic
light across from Little Pigs Barbecue.

New signage will be in place denoting several new “One Way”  and “Do Not
Enter” sections of campus streets. Student and staff on-campus parking
have not changed, but traffic patterns getting to and departing those
spots will be affected in some cases.

Families will receive more information and a map in the mail during the
first two weeks of August, as well as reminders via phone calls, emails,
and text messages. Be prepared!
