The Asheville Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, recently hosted its 2016 Health Walk, the “Link Up for Healthy Families Event,” at the Arthur R. Edington Center.

The Walk for Healthy Living is a signature program of the Links that teaches how healthy sustained lifestyle changes can reduce the incidence of many diseases.

The 2016 charity beneficiary was “My Community Matters,” a program developed by the Residents Council of the City of Asheville Housing Authority. The Residents Council is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization comprised of housing residents who are leading efforts to transform individuals and neighborhoods for the better. The program was chosen for the 2016 Charity Beneficiary based on the merits of initiatives the organization is implementing to improve health.

My Community Matters is working relentlessly to tackle a host of the environmental factors that serve as barriers to good health. Proceeds from the 2016 Health Walk go towards health-related initiatives.
