Progress Energy Reports Help Customers Save Energy and Money

Progress Energy has launched a new energy-efficiency program designed to provide customers with personalized information on their energy use so they can make informed choices and save money.

Starting this week, about 50,000 randomly selected Progress Energy customers will receive reports containing information on their electricity usage patterns and their home’s energy profile. They will also receive an anonymous comparison of their usage to nearby households with similar characteristics.


Reports are sent throughout the year and, along with the
accompanying website, provide customers with personalized tips to
increase energy efficiency, as well as assistance in creating an action
plan to manage their energy use. Customers can also track their progress
as they implement energy-saving measures.

Customers selected for the program and who follow prescribed
energy-saving tips are expected to see an average energy savings of
around 2 percent. Systemwide, Progress Energy expects the program to
reduce annual electricity usage by more than 14 million kilowatt-hours.

The initial 50,000 program participants were selected randomly,
but customers wishing to participate in the program may contact Progress
