Daydreamz project and Open Door Community Gardeners are celebrating spring by asking local youth and adults to create or decorate birdhouses for a Silent Auction. Please make or decorate your birdhouse with weather-resistant, nontoxic, permanent materials. For the birds’ sake, don’t use cardboard, fiberboard, glue, hot glue, toxic paints or finishes.

Rustic Folk Art style is encouraged; it is part of our local heritage. Birdhouses may be delivered to the Second Blessing Thrift Store on Commerce Street (next to the Open Door Soup Kitchen), in Waynesville’s Frog Level, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, by May 7, 2015. Birdhouses will be auctioned by silent bid at the Daydreamz booth during The Whole Bloomin’ Thing Festival on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Waynesville. Winning bidders will be notified at 3 p.m., and birdhouses may be taken to their new home or garden by 4 p.m.
