Mrs. Harold brings with her a wealth of knowledge both from corporate America, including the nonprofit sector. She is the former Community and Corporate Relations representative with Mission Foundation during the Windows of Childhood campaign, raising funds and awareness for the Mission Reuter Children’s Outpatient Center in Asheville.

Prior to her move to Asheville in late 2004, Marla was the Executive Director of the Humane Society Mountain Shelter in Blairsville, Georgia, helping homeless animals from both Towns and Union Counties. In Atlanta, Georgia she was with Merrill Lynch Relocation Management, a third-party relocation company, as a corporate liaison with national accounts.

In
addition to her corporate training she also organized and managed
several entrepreneurial endeavors. Marla has been very active in
Toastmasters International, serving as the Northeast Division Governor
for Toastmasters International in Georgia. She also has been an active
hospice volunteer, serving the terminally ill and their families. Marla
and her husband, Gale, lives in Madison County. She has one son, Jason,
a paramedic in Charlotte.

Marla’s new role
with Pathways allows her to serve in a way that will help others to
live more fully, with a greater vision, and a finer spirit of hope and
achievement. Pathways competent staff and counselors provide clients
the strength, hope and healing that Asheville’s own, Dr. Lewis Rathbun
envisioned almost 30 years ago.

The mission at
Pathways is to improve and extend life for people living with cancer,
through counseling, education and compassionate support. Since 1977,
when Dr. Rathbun observed that patient attitudes could have a
remarkable effect on recovery from illness, Pathways has served
thousands of cancer patients and their families throughout Western
North Carolina. Thanks to the generosity of many caring individuals and
organizations, we continue to make a difference.
