Peace March and Rally “Keeping Hope In Challenging Times” – Rally at 11:30 a.m. March to City-County Plaza, Pack Square Park, 12:15 p.m. Presented by The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Asheville and Buncombe County, Inc. Featuring Musical Selections from: Mr. Zion Morgan, “The Church,” and WestSound. Presentations from: Rev. Brent La Prince Edwards, Ms. Renee White, Rev. Dr. Brian D. Ammons, Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, Buncombe County Commissioner Al Whitesides, Ms. Niobe Wright, and Dr. Oralene Simmons. Fish Fry to follow at St. James AME Church! Menu: Fish, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Desert, Drinks. Dinners: $10; Sandwiches: $7. Collection boxes will line the sidewalk in front of St. James AME Church, and members of the Association will deliver the items collected to Manna Food Bank for disbursement to those in need throughout the area, as well as coats and blankets to Goodwill Industries. Once again, the Association is asking local residents, organizations, and schools to sponsor a nonperishable food drive to assist with this “Day of Service,” and to bring the items with you to the Peace March. 44 Hildebrand Street in Asheville.

The annual youth oratorical youth presentation will be held, with the MLK award given to the winning speaker. 3 p.m. 240 Haywood Street in Asheville.
