Florida A&M Selects First Female Drum Major

FAMU Drum Major Cori Bostic

Tallahassee, FL – Heading up the famous FAMU “Marching 100” will be Ms. Cori Bostic, high-stepping and making history in the coveted position.

It is the first time in the school’s 72-year history that a woman has been picked for drum major.

Since being named, she’s been flooded with words of support and praise on social media. Especially from the city of Atlanta where Bostic was a former Southwest DeKalb student. Florida A&M President Larry Robinson tweeted: “Congratulations Cori Bostic! You’re marching into Rattler history!”

“This is an historic day, and I am proud to be associated with the university as we welcome our first female drum major! Go Rattlers!” said Kelvin Lawson, chairman of the FAMU Board of Trustees.
