Pisgah Legal Services Seeks Community Support to Assist WNC Immigrants

Donors will match Justice For All giving challenge up to $100,000.

Ensure that immigrants in our community get the legal help they need to build safe and secure futures.

In Western North Carolina (WNC), Pisgah Legal Services (PLS) provides most of the free civil legal aid for area immigrants with only three attorneys working on behalf of people living in our 18-county region.

Local supporters of the nonprofit have launched a giving challenge to match up to $100,000, increasing resources and supporting this work.

“This is a critical time for immigrants in the United States, and here in WNC, free legal representation is both critical and scarce,” says PLS Chief Development Officer Ally Wilson. “Each year, Pisgah Legal helps secure legal status and work authorizations for immigrants to help them, and their families, escape poverty reside here legally. We are also assisting parents who are worried about being deported establish Power of Attorney documents in case they are separated from their children.”

She continued, “We are grateful to the generous people who have stepped forward to issue a $100,000 Justice for All Giving Challenge, matching contributions dollar for dollar. I’m thrilled to say that supporters have already contributed more than $50,000 toward this goal.”
