Five new zero-emission electric buses will join the ART bus fleet in February.
The City’s first three ZE buses were delivered in December, with another two to come in February. During the training phase they will be “shadowing” existing ART buses in service: driving behind current buses, but not picking up passengers.
The exact timing of when the new electric buses will go into service depends on completing the installation of the charging stations and training activities, expected to be early in 2019.
The buses were manufactured by Greenville, S.C.-based Proterra, a leader in the design and manufacture of zero-emission electric buses.
Also watch for the upcoming renovation of the ART Transit Station at 49 Coxe Ave., this year.
