Sharon Knox Burton
Sharon Knox Burton, born March 23, 1959, departed this life on January 28, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mary Ann Jones Knox and Sherman Knox, Jr.
A service to honor Sharon’s life was held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church.
A graduate of TC Roberson High School’s Class of 1977, Sharon furthered her education at North Carolina Central University before honorably serving in the United States Army for six years. Her professional journey led her to roles at the Asheville Citizen-Times and Solsman Corporation, where she made a lasting impact.
Sharon was a devoted member of Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment to the community shone brightly. Known for her outspoken nature and unwavering honesty, Sharon’s vibrant spirit made her unforgettable—to know her was truly to love her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Jasman White (PJ) and LaFredia Burton, both of Arden, NC; her brother, Rev. Keith Knox, Sr. (Deborah) of Fletcher, NC; her sisters, Marian Knox, Marilyn Gaines, and LaVon Koone, all of Asheville, and Sarah Knox Collier (Jerry) and Sherry Wilkes (Marcus), both of Brevard, NC. Sharon also held a special bond with her cousin, Steve Jones, who was more like a brother.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Ashley White, Aydan White, and Kensli Ray, and her great-grandson, Krew White. She is also survived by her aunts, Kathrine Jones, Tina Joyner (Darryl), and Rita Warren; and her uncle, Donald Wayne Jones (Donna), and her stepmother, Luretha Knox. Other nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, and family friends also love her. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her doctors, nurses, and staff at Charles George VA Medical Center.
Sharon’s warmth, strength, and love will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Interment was held at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
