Arthur Kevin Simmons
Arthur Kevin Simmons of Asheville, born Dec. 30, 1963, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 27, 2025.

Kevin grew up in a loving family that shaped his values of integrity and perseverance.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he dedicated his life to serving his country and building a life he was proud of.
Kevn was a proud graduate of Asheville High School, Class of 1982. He also attended a fine arts school, where he discovered his passion for the performing arts. His beautiful smile and infectious laughter brought joy to others and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was also passionate about the UNC Tar Heels and the Carolina Panthers and often enjoyed spirited discussions about his teams.
A man who exhibited unparalleled love for those he held dear, Kevin was a devoted husband to Annette Simmons and proud patriarch of his family: his daughter, Mia Terry Simpson (Charles); his stepchildren, Doneka Terry (Quinneshia), Dexter Terry, Theodore Philson (Mariah), and the late Therian Terry; and his grandchildren, Marley Philson, Luke Simpson, Tyler Simpson, and Ziyon Whitner.
Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Oralene Simmons, his beloved sisters, Rhonda Sloan (Thomas), Sheila Simmons, and Namurah Blakely (Jonathan), and his brother Kyle Simmons (Donna). He was preceded in death by his father, the late Arthur Gene “Boyd” Simmons. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished the bonds he formed with each of them.
A Funeral Service to honor Kevin Simmon’s life was held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church, and burial took place on February 3 at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
Kevin will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
