Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Announces Leadership Installation

Members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. are gearing up for a successful fraternal year with new leaders, new members, and new programming.

Recently, the Asheville (NC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. welcomed three new members to its fold: David Benson, Preston Blakely, and Demetris Render. Each of these men bring with them unique experiences, skills, and passions that will be useful to advancing initiatives both nationally, and local in scope.

In addition, the leadership is changing and evolving, as Preston Blakely, currently the Mayor of Fletcher, will serve as Polemarch. Jalen Singleton, Stephen J. Blount, Demetris Render, Dr. DeAndre T. Howard, Jonathan Crooks, Rev. Spencer Hardaway, and David Benson will lead as officers for the chapter.

Mars Hill University Chapter

In the Mars Hill University Chapter, the Mu Tau of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., recently welcomed five new members: Braxton Robinson, who will serve as polemarch; Kendall Davis, Kory Davis, Maxwell Gaither, and London Maiden. All five are student athletes, but more importantly, are high-achieving scholars and student leaders. Their plan is to support and foster meaningful relationships within the school community and within the town of Mars Hill that surrounds the campus.

Both chapters include plans for various partnerships, including supporting and assisting the community through service and philanthropy, in the schools, or various social events.

Asheville Chapter

Recently, members from Asheville (NC) Alumni and Mu Tau celebrated their achievements from this past fraternal year, which included giving awards and honoring four influential and long-serving members of the chapter: Dr. Larry McCallum, Jonathan Crooks, Rev. Spencer Hardaway, and Rev. David Roberts, II. Leadership awards were also given to Stephen J. Blount, Dr. DeAndre T. Howard, Jalen Singleton, and C. Tony High.

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is a historically African American fraternity founded at Indiana University on January 5, 1911. Its purpose is achievement in every field of human endeavor, and that is what the members of the Asheville (NC) Alumni Chapter embody and contribute to the community. They are affiliated with the Middle Eastern Province, which houses alumni and undergraduate chapters in NC and southwestern Virginia.
