Color Me Country Radio
Rissi Palmer has lived and breathed country music her whole life.
As someone who knows the genre better than anyone, she’s decided that enough is enough: “It’s time for country music to know where the f**k it came from,” she says.
On Color Me Country, the singer-songwriter brings the Black, Indigenous, and Latinx histories of country music that have lived for too long outside the spotlight and off mainstream airwaves.
Listen in as Rissi has riveting, funny, and necessary conversations with country music’s most vital and underrepresented voices, including Lizz Wright, Don Flemons, Gabe Lee, Camille Parker, Darius Rucker, and many others.
She also provides information about the origins of the banjo, cajun music roots and culture, and introduces us to new musicians, Latinx and Indigenous country artists, while spotlighting music festivals and other topics.
Rissi Palmer talks to Darius Rucker about being Black in Country music.
