A story of dance floor culture & expression.

Where Love Lives explores music’s enduring power to manifest diverse and inclusive community, to accept and embrace, to liberate, even to save lives. It’s a true story of acceptance and creative expression, and a beautiful tribute to the dance floor!

Defected Records’s and Glitterbox’s Where Love Lives documentary is a moving journey through self-acceptance, expression, and the power of community. Through interviews with titans of nightlife Billy Porter, Honey Dijon, Kathy Sledge, Kiddy Smile, Lucy Fizz, and others, the film explores how those driven to the margins of society are welcomed unconditionally to the dance floor.

Where Love Lives is also featured as part of Music, Makers and Machines, a virtual exhibition showcasing the history and legacy of electronic music. The project is hosted by Google Arts & Culture and YouTube at artsandculture.google.com/project/music-makers-and-machines. Explore the electronic music scene in nine upbeat cities, including Chicago, Detroit, and New York. Defected worked with more than 50 other music and cultural institutions as partners on this global project that will allow audiences to access more than 200 online exhibitions.
