During the 42nd National Assembly of the Links Incorporated, Raynetta C. Waters from the Asheville Chapter was elected Chair of the National Nominating Committee.
This assembly was to be held in New Orleans but due to COVID the assembly was instead held virtually.
An Asheville native with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Waters is the owner and operator of two Subway restaurants in the Asheville area.
Members of the Asheville chapter of the Links volunteer in the Asheville area with such programs as mentoring young girls at Asheville Middle School; providing scholarships to outstanding high school seniors; supporting programs on healthy living; and voter registration activities. The chapter also has raised funds in support of national efforts to provide sanitary bath toilets for Haiti. The women of the Asheville Chapter, Links Incorporated continue to make difference on the local, national, and international level.
The Links is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1946 as a way for professional women of color throughout the country to provide leadership that makes a difference in their communities. More than 16,000 women fulfill that commitment through membership in 288 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.
