Following the shooting of Charlie Kirk, podcasters and speakers have started making their own attempts in creating viral content of debates with students. A new group of MAGA debaters known as Fearless Debates traveled to Tennessee State University to film a new debate only to be shutdown by Black students who were not amused with some of their statements and attire.
Fearless Debates, a group led by Cam Hibgy and David Khait, showed up at Tennessee State University, an HBCU in Nashville, wearing MAGA hats and hosting a Charlie Kirk-style debate. Their topics? ‘DEI should be illegal’ and ‘deport all illegals now.’
While they claim they were there in hopes to debate, some students called it provocation. After students escalated tensions with jeering and heckling, campus police eventually escorted them off campus.
In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death, several HBCUs received bomb threats. At a time of extreme division, are groups like this testing HBCUs, provoking conflict, and creating scenes for clicks? Students didn’t back down, and the NAACP warns this is just the beginning.
MAGAs go to HBCUs to Debate What They Already Destroyed
Harassing our institutions after trying destroy them and the people they help isn’t just rude, it’s sinister.
They already killed DEI. They already cheered when Trump strong-armed corporations into dropping diversity initiatives. They already clapped when affirmative action was gutted. And let’s not forget: this Klanministration slashed HBCU funding, withholding millions already promised to us.
