Federal Employees Protest Government Takeover

Protesters prevented a small group of self-described “data miners” from entering the Office of Personnel Management.

Nearly 100 Federal employees took part in a protest against the takeover of the government’s Office of Personnel Management by members of Elon Musk’s DOGE group.

The protestors occupied the courtyard of the OPM building for most of the afternoon on Sunday, February 2, 2025 and into the evening. For a brief period they blocked the doors to the building where a handful of self-identified ‘data miners’ waited to be admitted to the building. The small group of young men eventually left without entering after the protesters would not let them near the front doors. A team of DC Metropolitan Police stood nearby watching but did not intervene in the spontaneous blockade.

Federal employees and other supporters privately expressed deep anger and concern after learning that Elon Musk’s surrogates had gained access to the OPM building, revoked regular Federal employees’ stipulated and authorized access credentials, and prevented them from logging into their personnel computer systems. They continue to lock Federal employees out of the systems while accessing them.

These personnel systems and databases house the information of over 2 million former and presently active Federal employees, their personnel data, work history, job information, and payroll records.

Such an intrusion taken against secure government systems is unprecedented. Please go to www.DCMediaGroup.us for continuing coverage.
