“Meet the Candidates” Forums
Buncombe County voters will have an opportunity to meet candidates for local and state offices in a series of public forums hosted by the League of Women Voters in September and October.
The forums will be held throughout the county in accordance with state representatives and County Commission seats. All forums will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Audience questions will be taken.
Thursday, September 20, 2018 – Black Mountain Library
Invited candidates include those for seats in NC Senate 49 (Van Duyn seat), NC House 115 (Ager seat), County Commissioner District 2 (Frost seat), and the Board of Education for the Reynolds school district.
Wednesday, September 26, 2018 -West Asheville Library
Invited candidates include those for Sheriff as well as seats in NC House 114 (Fisher seat), County Commissioner District 1 (Whitesides seat), the Board of Education representing the Erwin school district, and the Soil & Water Conservation Board.
Tuesday, October 2, 2018 – Leicester Library
Invited candidates include those for seats in NC Senate 48 (Edwards seat), NC House 116 (Turner seat), County Commissioner District 3 (Pressley seat), and Enka school district Board of Education.
The League encourages everyone to be an educated voter. Those unable to attend the forums can also visit Vote411.org to see how candidates answer questions; there voters can also access information on their voter registration status, early voting, polling locations, and more.
