Votes Cast in the 2015 City Council Primary
Together the six winners in the Asheville City Council primary gained 70.5% of all votes cast: 8,580 voters (choosing up to three candidates each) made 24,061 individual candidate choices; the six garnered 16,964 of those.
Altogether 12.78% of eligible voters (8,580 out of 67,125) went to the polls. That’s a slight increase from previous municipal primary elections, which had shown a steady decline over the past three election cycles.
