North Carolina Chamber Project to Host Asheville Area Candidate Forum
The North Carolina Chamber, a nonpartisan business advocacy organization, has announced a candidate forum in Asheville on Thursday, September 20. The forum for congressional and state legislative candidates is sponsored by the organization’s political program, the North Carolina Prosperity Project, in collaboration with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. WLOS ABC-13 anchorman Frank Fraboni will moderate the forum, which will take place from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Prosperity Project is a nonpartisan effort designed to help employers inform their employees about the people and policies that could impact their jobs and industries. It provides web-based tools that allow individuals to identify top issues, locate and contact their elected officials, and register to vote. For information, visit www.northcarolinaprosperity.org.
The forum will be held at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce located at 36 Montford Avenue in Asheville and will include the following candidates:
NC 10th Congressional District
Patsy Keever (D) – will participate
Patrick McHenry (R) – will be unable to attend as Congress will be in session, but will send a statement to be read.
NC 11th Congressional District
Mark Meadows (R) – will participate
Hayden Rogers (D) – will participate
NC House District 115
Nathan Ramsey (R) – will participate
Susan Wilson (D) – will participate
NC House District 116
Jane Whilden (D) – will participate
Tim Moffitt (R) – the incumbent had not confirmed his attendance at press time.
The forum will also cover House District 118 and two State Senate districts (47 and 50) that are outside Buncombe County.
