Free Tax Assistance for the Elderly – Through April 15
Do you have questions about your taxes? Would you like assistance in completing your income tax forms? The AARP Tax-Aide program, in cooperation with the IRS, the NC Department of Revenue, and the Council on Aging of Buncombe County will offer free tax preparation for older adults, as well as low and middle income taxpayers.
Here are the locations and times the assistance will be provided:
Senior

Taxpayers should bring the following documents:
• Social Security cards for taxpayer and all dependents
• Last year’s (2006) tax return
• W-2 forms from each employer
• 1099 for Social Security, Pension, Interest, Dividends, and Broker/ Mutual Fund Income
• Detailed list of expenses for medical, charities, taxes, interest, if claiming itemized deductions
• Copy of current check for direct deposit of any refund
