A Look at Entertainment

Netflix is making historic moves with its forthcoming A Different World sequel series, which has secured a pilot order.
The sequel to the cult classic television show, which aired on NBC from 1987 to 1994, is only the second pilot order in the streaming giant’s history. Traditionally, networks green-light pilots before committing to a full season. Netflix has predominantly favored the straight-to-series orders. The decision to move forward with a pilot order highlights the significance of this much-hyped revival.

The sequel will introduce a new generation of viewers to Hillman College, the fictional HBCU that served as the backdrop for the original series. The plot will center around Dwayne and Whitley’s daughter as she follows in her parents’ footsteps at the college.
The sequel’s pilot will begin filming this summer.
SZA made history once again. Three years after its release, her critically acclaimed album, SOS, has surpassed Michael Jackson’s Thriller as the longest-running Top 10 album by a Black artist in Billboard 200 history.

On March 12, 2025, SOS tied Thriller after spending 79 nonconsecutive weeks on Billboard 200’s Top 10. She eclipsed the king of pop days later, securing the record.
Released in December 2022, SOS debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and remained there for 10 nonconsecutive weeks. Even after more than two years, the album has yet to leave the charts.

Misinformation is running rampant on social media and X is the hub of confusion. The spreading of misinformation transcends timelines. It also makes a real impact on people’s lives.
Actress Ayo Edebiri says she has seen it first hand. The Bear star and Emmy and Golden Globe award-winner made a post on Instagram recently revealing that she received “insane death threats” after Elon Musk reshared a fake news report in February that said Edebiri was replacing Johnny Depp in a new film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Ayo Edebiri speaks out after blasting Elon Musk over ‘Pirates’ casting rumor death threats.
“Just remember when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,” Edebiri posted alongside a screen shot of Musk’s post. “LMAO. So not only is he a double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot.”
Musk reposted the fake story on Feb. 7, 2025, to his account on X, formerly known as Twitter, where he currently has 219.6 million followers. “Disney sucks,” he posted. While his own post was still on the site, the quote has since been deleted from the app.
