A Look at Entertainment
by T.J. Moore –
Power actress LaLa Anthony recently revealed to her 15 million followers on social media that she’s fighting plaque psoriasis, and has been battling this skin disorder for years.
“I’m going to be real with you; there were many times when my plaque psoriasis influenced what I wore or how I did my hair and make-up,” she wrote on a recent Instagram post. “I have had psoriasis for 30 years now and I still can’t figure it out.”
Over 6 million adults in the U.S. live with plaque psoriasis, yet many misunderstand the disease. Dr. Meagen McCusker and La La Anthony discuss its impact to raise awareness.
Anthony sparked a conversation about the skin condition that, according to WebMD, affects 8 million people in the US and 125 million globally. She admitted that she had limited knowledge of the skin disorder besides commercials for treatment that would air during her Lifetime TV binges.
“When I learned that I had plaque psoriasis, it was like, ‘Well, what is this?’ I didn’t know what it was. I got these itchy patches,” she told HelloBeautful.com in an interview. “I went to the dermatologist and found out it’s an autoimmune disease that starts inside the body. I was like okay, I get it now. And I think it’s just about finding the treatment options that work for you.”
In a recent press junket to promote his latest film, The Lost Holiday, Jussie Smollett revealed that during his darkest days followings arrest for allegedly staging a hate crime, Black women came to his side and supported him.
“I would not physically be here any longer if it were not for the Black women that were pushing me, helping me, and lifting me up and loving on me when the rest of the world was telling me I was absolutely unlovable,” he shared with Radio One.
Jussie Smollett Reacts to Critics
Smollett credits his mother, siblings, and women like his Holiday co-star Viveca A. Fox, and Mona Scott-Young for keeping him going.
“It was really difficult. I was inside and I was not coming outside,” he said. “I did not want to see anybody. I did not want to be seen, and Mona’s the one that said, “get your pants on. Let’s create. You’re too talented to just let this just fester inside of you. You got to get up.” And that’s the reason why I’m still here physically. It’s something that I’ll never be able to truly repay. I’m grateful. It’s that Black girl magic.”
Catch The Lost Holiday in AMC theaters now.
Lauryn Hill is being sued by her Fugees bandmate over allegations of breach of contract and fraud.
Fugees founding member Pras Michel is suing Hill for the aforementioned, stemming from their 2023 tour, according to Variety.
Lauryn Hill sued by Fugees bandmate for fraud over reunion tour.
In the lawsuit filed in New York’s Southern District, Michel alleged that Hill completely mismanaged the setup, marketing, and budgeting of their cancelled 2023 tour, calling it a “veiled and devious attempt to make a big score for herself.” Michel also accused Hill of secretly siphoning off money from the tour guarantees.
Tyla is on the mend from a back injury and is focused on a comeback.
In a recent interview with People, the “Water” singer shared how she’s coping with the aftermath of cancelling her 2024 world tour in March due to her injury.
From Injury to Strength: Tyla’s Inspiring Journey of Recovery and Resilience
During an event with Bose in September, the singer revealed that her back is slowly improving, and she’s excited to attend and perform at upcoming events while gradually recovering.
