HSE/GED Fast Track Classes

A-B Tech is offering a free High School Equivalency Fast-Track Class, which runs from April 15 to May 10, 2019, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Asheville campus. The program allows students to earn a GED® in four weeks.

Summer classes begin May 23 and registration opens April 22 for all students.

Plant Sale

The Annual Sarah Gnilka Memorial Plant Sale will start at 8 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 on the lawn of Sycamore, located at 29 Tech Drive in Asheville. Plants are available for $3 per 4-pack. There will be 70 different varieties of herbs, vegetables and flowers. All proceeds go directly to the Gnilka Memorial Scholarship.

Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Classes start May 1

An Ophthalmic Medical Assistant works with an Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) by helping with the patient’s needs. The assistant will be taking histories, performing various procedures and tests, and preparing patients to see the doctor.

The full program consists of two courses taught by a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist. Students must successfully complete both lecture and clinical portions to complete the program successfully. Students who successfully complete the entire program will be eligible to take the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam.

Student Computer Expo

A-B Tech is hosting the Class of 2019 Computer Technologies Student Expo from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the Haynes Computer Technology Center on the Asheville campus.

Students in Digital Media Technology, Information Systems, Software and Web Development, Network Management, and Systems Security programs will present their capstone projects and portfolios.

The event serves as an opportunity for students to present themselves and their work to potential employers, college employees, current students, and potential students. This event is free, open to the public, and on a drop-in basis.

Commencement Ceremonies

A-B Tech Commencement will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 in the U.S. Cellular Center.
