Asheville Links Award Scholarships

The Asheville Chapter of the Links Incorporated held its White Rose Luncheon Saturday, May 17 at the Asheville Event Center. At the luncheon, two members of the Class of 2014, Emagine Montgomery and Lauren Russell, were awarded college scholarships.
Ms. Montgomery graduated from Asheville High School with honors and will attend UNC Greensboro, where she plans to major in Marketing and minor in Psychology. Ms. Russell, an honors graduate from T.C. Roberson High School, will attend Wingate University where she plans to major in Music.
The luncheon also celebrated the artistic talent of Asheville youth. Attendees were entertained by vocalists Jaylen Blair and Walter Godfrey.
A freshman at Asheville High School, Jalen sang his first solo at age three and has been performing ever since. Walter, a sophomore at Furman University majoring in Vocal Performance and Music Composition, is an alumnus of T. C. Roberson High School. He has appeared in such shows as Les Miserables and Brigadoon, and he plans to earn an MA and PhD in music following graduation.

The Links, Incorporated is an international not for profit corporation established in Philadelphia in 1946; its membership comprises more than 12,000 professional women of color in 276 chapters in 41 states. The Asheville Chapter was established in 1988.
Members include business and civic leaders who work strengthen their communities through service programs.
