Disaster Relief Updates 11-27-2024
Community Care Stations
Community Care Stations and water distribution sites will be closed on Thursday, November 28 for the holiday, but they will reopen on Friday.
At the end of the day on Monday, December 2, all water distribution sites and community care stations in both Asheville and Buncombe County will close, with the exception of these community care stations:
– Morgan Hill Baptist Church, 594 Barnardsville Highway
– Bethel United Methodist, 1050 Riceville Road
– Owen Pool, 117 Stone Drive, Swannanoa
– Fairview Ingles at 225 Charlotte Highway by Reynolds High Community
Parking Fees Resume
On-street parking meters and enforcement will resume December 2, 2024.
Event parking fees at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center garage will be reinstated for events happening on or after December 2, 2024.
Parking fees for city-owned and managed garage will resume on January 2, 2025.
Bus Fares Resume
ART bus service fares will resume on January 2, 2025.
Private Property Debris Removal
Buncombe County property owners impacted by Hurricane Helene who do not have debris removal insurance may apply for free debris removal through the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) program. This program helps remove qualified disaster debris from private property and covers the demolition of eligible unsafe structures.
Application Locations:
– Asheville Mall, 3 South Tunnel Road (same location as the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center). Open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (these hours will adjust as FEMA DRC hours change.)
– Barnardsville Fire Department, Station 15, 100 Dillingham Road: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Swannanoa Fire Rescue, 510 Bee Tree Road: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Fairview Library, 1 Taylor Road: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rental Assistance Information
Eblen Charities provides assistance to families in our community for housing (rent and mortgage), utilities, gasoline (to get to a medical appointment or job interview), education, medical needs, eyeglasses, holiday gifts, clothing and food. Assistance Available to Repair Private Roads and Bridges
FEMA funding is available to support repairs on private roads and bridges, even if the owner’s home is not damaged. These funds are available through the agency’s Individual Assistance and Public Assistance programs. For more information or to schedule an inspection call 1-800-621-FEMA.
