Feed AVL Veggie Box Program

Providing free weekly vegetable boxes to BIPOC community and Southside residents.

Southside Community Farm is expanding their veggie box program.

The Feed AVL Veggie Box Program has provided free weekly vegetable boxes to BIPOC community and Southside residents for four years now.

This year the Southside Community Farm (SCF) is focusing on the Southside neighborhood with priority to public housing residents. While a lot of the products are grown by SCF staff, they value collaboration and support local farmers by purchasing additional products for their boxes, like fresh fruit and other complimentary vegetables and herbs.

SCF prioritizes BIPOC businesses and farms, supporting at least one local BIPOC-owned farm or business each week. Last season they delivered about 30 free food boxes a week for 20 weeks, and an additional 60 boxes a week for two months after Hurricane Helene.

When you sponsor a veggie box for a full season, you are ensuring free, fresh, locally sourced food for 20 weeks to an individual or family in the Asheville community. In the continuing aftermath of Hurricane Helene SCF has made the decision to extend the program by beginning in March—adding nine additional weeks of food relief.

If you are unable to sponsor a box for a full season you can opt to pay for a portion of the season or donate any amount. Sponsor a Veggie Box by going to app.ribbon.giving/links/TU30E5.
