An Aviva Kempner/Ciesla Foundation film. The incredible story of how businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald partnered with educator Booker T. Washington in establishing schools for African Americans in the Jim Crow South. Held at Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Community Center, 285 Livingston Street in Asheville.

Open Mic Nite: Creative Expressions & Artistic Interpretations

A Gathering on the Green & Music Collaboration

Sunday, August 28 • 3-7 p.m.

This jam session is designed to unite and honor our mountain cultures, utilizing traditional Appalachian, Jewish American, Native, and African American music, instruments, and dance. Come on out! Bring your musical instruments, dance shoes, and lawn chair for an enjoyable afternoon. Held on the green across from Mars Hill University, 80 Cascade St. in Mars Hill.
