Weigh in on plans for the Woodfin Riverside Park and Whitewater Wave.
The park’s expansion and renovation is a key part of a larger regional re-envisioning of the French Broad River that will revitalize the post-industrial waterfront into parks, miles of greenway, and blueway access.
The existing Riverside Park will be expanded to incorporate the recently purchased Waste Pro Property. Plans for the larger park include a world-class whitewater feature located in the French Broad River. Other proposed features include environmental enhancements, a pavilion, restrooms, a greenway connecting to Asheville’s Wilma Dykeman Greenway, and many other features.
The Town of Woodfin would like the public to provide input on what amenities are top priority for inclusion in the final design. This can be done by taking an online survey at www.tinyurl.com/WoodfinParks. Participation is not limited to Woodfin residents.
The next stage of more detailed design will commence once the survey closes on July 11th. The Town of Woodfin has contracted with Equinox, a design firm based out of Asheville, and S20 Design, for design of the park and the wave, respectively. Construction is targeted to begin in the Fall of 2022.
